Archbishop of York to join clergy conference

First published on: 14th May 2021

Clergy across the Diocese of Manchester will be joined for the day by the Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell, at their online clergy conference on 20 May. Clergy will be able to meet online, after a year full of challenges and isolation, worship together, and take part in a Q and A session about the future of the Church of England.

The Archbishop of York will join the Bishop of Manchester, David Walker, in hosting the online gathering, which will be an opportunity for much-needed spiritual refreshment and fellowship after what has been a tumultuous year that has thrown up many challenges, both personally and for church communities.

Called Heaven Blessed and Heaven Sent, the conference will centre around a Eucharist/Spiritual Communion led by Archbishop Stephen, at which he will preach and encourage clergy in their calling.

Afterwards, there will be time for conversation in breakout rooms, with informal coffee and conversation with colleagues. There will also be the opportunity to ask questions of the bishops and for them to share their vision for the Church of England and for our diocese. We hope clergy will end the day feeling refreshed and energised.
