Photos Usage and Resources

Head over to our FlickR page if you're looking for photos to populate your templates.

Resolution Matters – When preparing print material, try to use high-resolution images (3000px+) for the best results. You can download original high resolution photos from our Flickr.
Optimised for Web – Website images should be compressed (around 2000px wide) to balance quality and page speed.
Social Media Sizing – Platforms like Facebook and Instagram work best with 1200x630px (landscape) or 1080x1080px (square) images.
Avoid Overcompression – Save images as JPEG for photos, PNG for graphics, and use WebP where possible for faster loading.

Video / Film Advice and Resources

Resolution & Format – Shoot in 1080p (Full HD) or 4K for the best quality. Export as MP4 (H.264) for compatibility.
Aspect Ratios – Use 16:9 (landscape) for YouTube & websites, and 9:16 (portrait) for Instagram Reels & TikTok.
File Size & Uploading – Keep videos under 500MB for web use. Use WeTransfer or Google Drive for large files.
Video Templates – We have a folder featuring various intro/outro clips, lower thirds, and overlays to keep your videos visually consistent. Access HERE
Music & Copyright – Please remember to use royalty-free music, or request approved tracks from the Diocese media team.

You can upload and drag images into these placeholders as seen below:

Download and Share
Once your template is ready, simply download the finished version and share it with your community! Whether online via social media or printed* and displayed in your church, the resources are designed to be versatile and easy to use.

Downloading for Print (PDF) - With Bleed

For printed material, you can use Canva to produce a print-ready version of your design. When saving on Canva, head up to 'Share' and select the option to 'Download' your file. You will then be prompted with a number of options, including settings such as file type, image size, and the pages you want to export. From the 'File Type' list, select the PDF Print option, which will allow you to export your document with crop marks and bleed, which are often a required by printing companies to ensure the document prints accurately. You can see a preview of the process in the animation below

Adding Bleed to your Canva Document

When printing with bleed, please ensure that the graphic is larger than the canvas itself. Bleed is when there is additional 'media' or 'material' for the printers to trim off so that the final product doesn't include any edges. An example can be seen in the GIF below. If you're struggling, please contact the comms team for support.
