Improving fundraising

Over the next five years our objectives are to:

Help churches fundraise in a safe and legal manner

Diocesan training materials will be developed to cover the responsibilities of PCC trustees.  In the meantime the following resources are useful:

Enable churches to easily identify and successfully apply for external funding

Open4Community is an external funding search facility which is free for parishes in the Diocese of Manchester. It is an excellent tool and all churches are encouraged to register, and then use it on a regular basis to gain the maximum benefit.

Webinars are also offered on how your church can write applications for consideration by external funding bodies. The training is delivered by Revd Paul Monk, Incumbent, Benefice of Clarksfield and Waterhead, and Heather Ford, Church Insurance Consultant, Ecclesiastical, and it is hosted by Paul Bailey, Diocesan Giving Advisor.

For details and to book on any of the training, please visit the Training page.

For information on grants that could help finance a parish project, visit the Grants page.

Develop the use of income generation activities in churches (e.g. food projects, cafes, and renting social spaces)

Develop and maintain good relationships with regulators within the charity sector (e.g. The Charity Commission and the Fundraising Regulator)

Investigate creating a ‘central mission/appeals fund’ enabling people to make donations and fundraise
