Associate Choral Leaders for 2024/25

Sing my Soul is an innovative approach to church growth that aims to reach people through the power of music. The Diocese of Manchester and St-Martin-in-the-Fields, London are working together to bring beautifully inspiring music to local churches.

Supported by the Church of England's Strategic Development Funding, new community choirs and children's choirs are being set up, giving everyone with a passion for music the chance to take part. These choirs will be led by Associate Choral Leaders  who will lead the choral scholars and create new community choir and children’s choirs, while receiving training from the music team at St Martin’s.

We are delighted to announce that the three Associate Choral Leaders for 2024/25 are:

Siân Davies - Associate Choral Leader for Community Choirs

Siân is currently completing her Master of Music in Performance and Vocal Pedagogy, supported by The Annie Ridyard Scholarship, Alice Orrell and A&N Kendall Award, and Riga Heesom Award. Siân is also finishing her training at the Royal Northern College of Music on their Advanced Postgraduate Diploma.

Siân enjoys teaching singing and conducting the choir at Holy Innocent’s Church in Fallowfield. Her recent highlights as a performer include: Young Artist at Buxton International Festival 2024, finalist in the Joyce and Michael Kennedy Award for the Singing of Strauss, Bobylikha in The Snow Maiden (Rimsky-Korsakov), Requiem (Ligeti) with Edvard Grieg Vokalensemble and RNCM Chamber Choir at the BBC Proms, Street Chorus and Blues Singer in Mass (Bernstein) at the Bridgewater Hall and performing with Sir Stephen Hough. This role involves leading whole-class singing in primary schools across Greater Manchester and Lancashire, as well as developing after-school choirs, as part of the National Schools Singing Programme. Alongside this role he works with choirs across the North West, including Musical Director positions with Voces Pulchrae, an early music choir in Stockport, and The A Capella Singers in the Ribble Valley. He is excited to combine his existing work with the Associate Choral Leaders Programme.

He sings regularly with the choir of Manchester Oratory and is part of Kantos Chamber Choir. Outside of his choral work he has also worked for Buxton International Festival, for Manchester Camerata as a freelance Event Manager, and in the music office of Chetham’s School of Music.

Harry Mobbs - Associate Choral Leader for Choral Scholars

Harry is a baritone and conductor based in Manchester. A former conductor of Ad Solem Chamber Choir, with whom he toured Scotland, Ireland and Hong Kong, Harry is greatly looking forward to working with the St Martin-in-the-Fields Diocese of Manchester Choral Scholars this year. Harry has sung with a variety of ensembles, including Echo Vocal Ensemble, Kantos Chamber Choir and Manchester Cathedral Choir, and has managed two opera productions.

Harry has enjoyed early success as Manager and Co-Founder of The Mancunium Consort, a Manchester-based ensemble seeking to widen the platform for Young Professionals in the North. This work has seen the group perform alongside The Gesualdo Six, open the Live at Lunchtime series at The Bridgewater Hall, and recently complete their first UK tour to Kent and Banbury.
