Manchester and Salford Whit Walk 2025

Manchester and Salford Whit Walks are returning to the city centre on Bank Holiday Monday, 26th May. This cherished tradition, featuring a procession of clergy and parishioners, brass bands and drums, all representing local churches is a beloved part of our heritage. For many of us, taking part in a Whit Walk remains a fond memory from our childhoods.

Dating back to 1801, the Whit Walks allow church communities to come together, represent their churches, and be supported by the Manchester crowds who have been honouring this event for the last 200 years.

This year's schedule is as follows:

9.30am - Assemble in Cathedral Gardens (behind the Cathedral)

10.00am - Procession to St Peter’s Square via Deansgate

10.45am - Act of worship

11.30am - Return procession to Manchester Cathedral

Could your parish join us this year? Whether it means reviving a long-lost tradition or starting a new one, we invite you to be part of this special day.
