Carbon Awareness Training

Come and join us for an interactive session full of practical ideas to help you reduce your carbon footprint!

In 2020, General Synod voted for the whole Church of England to have achieved net zero carbon by 2030, a move which Manchester Diocesan Synod agreed upon in March 2021. The target is an acknowledgement that the global climate emergency is a crisis for God's creation and a fundamental injustice. Reducing our negative impact on the world is an urgent missional priority for the Church.

Our Diocesan Environment Officer, Revd Grace Thomas, has been trained in Carbon Literacy, and through this short course will be working with participants to look at the causes of climate change, its impacts, and most importantly, how each of us can make a difference.

Grace has run this course before, and the feedback was very positive.

Research indicates that the collective carbon footprint of a group that attends a carbon literacy course reduces by up to 10% in the six months afterwards. The course complements the wider work being done across the diocese, supporting local parishes, mission communities, schools and chaplaincies as they work towards Eco Church status, as well as demonstrating why Energy Footprint Tools are vital to achieving our Net Zero Carbon goal.

All are welcome to attend - lay and ordained - but places are limited and will go quickly so make sure to sign up and share!
