Speakers: Subject experts from the Church of England Pensions Board, clergy pension and housing teams; plus independent financial advisers from Ecclesiastical Financial Advisory Services.
The session is aimed at helping clergy (and their partners) demystify financial matters and helping you and your partner plan for your financial future in retirement. The speakers will address retirement and general financial planning issues and questions that in their experience face most clergy, the key themes of the session centre around
- General financial planning hints and tips (with specific focus on the changes at retirement)
- The importance of planning ahead
- Housing options including how the church can help and buying property (or re-mortgaging) during your ministry
- What to expect from the clergy pension scheme and considering the options for saving more
- State pensions and what to expect
- Saving & investing hints and tips including tax issues and tax efficiency, investment risks and ethical investment options
- A brief summary of the importance of making a will and powers of attorney
- Answering your financial questions (questions from the audience are encouraged)
- After a buffet lunch, short (optional) 1:1 sessions with the speakers about Church housing options, pensions and/or personal financial advice and planning issues will be available.
