The Parish Church of St Leonard, Middleton, a grade 1 listed building and the oldest church in the Manchester Diocese, is celebrating an important anniversary this year. It is 500 years since the rededication of the church after its extension by Sir Richard Assheton in thanksgiving for the English victory at the Battle of Flodden and his Knighthood for valour on the battlefield.
The church is putting on a programme of events during the year, beginning with an organ concert on 4th May featuring renowned international organist, Jonathan Scott. Tickets are £10 (cash only) and will be available to buy on the door.
