The Diocese of Manchester is seeking to appoint a Lead Anglican Chaplain to provide a source of strategic leadership, pastoral care and a visible Anglican presence in the heart of the City of Manchester’s university community. The post is open to ordained Anglican ministers and laypeople with suitable experience.
The Lead Anglican Chaplain will:
- Develop and implement a new Anglican Chaplaincy strategy for three city centre universities.
- Build a team of volunteers who will support the implementation of the strategy across the universities.
- Work closely with student bodies and the wider multifaith chaplaincy already in place to provide appropriate pastoral care for students and university staff.
- Facilitate Christian worship and find opportunities to bring the Gospel of Jesus to students in Manchester.
- Develop links with local churches that can offer ongoing spiritual support for students.
This is an exciting opportunity to represent the diocese within the vibrant and exciting university community. It is important to us that the Lead Anglican Chaplain is committed to diversity, inclusion and racial justice. We are also looking for someone who is generous in working with a breadth of traditions and spirituality in the Church of England, all expressions of Christian faith and other faiths.
There is an Occupational Requirement for the post holder to be a practising Christian, and member of the Anglican Church, in accordance with Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.
