St Mary Leigh and St Peter & St Paul Westleigh are two distinct benefices in the Leigh Mission Community, Deanery of Salford & Leigh, with significant opportunities for mission and evangelism.
The new Incumbent will work with established ordained and lay colleagues across the two benefices. There is a strong desire to work more confidently together while acknowledging the distinctiveness between the two benefices.
St Mary is the historic parish church of Leigh. St Peter and St Paul are distinct churches within the Westleigh benefice with strong local and community outreach. Liturgically, all three churches are grounded in modern catholic traditions.
We are looking for an Incumbent with the following qualities:
- A collaborative priest who can delegate and raise up and support lay and ordained leaders;
- A priest who is comfortable with modern Catholic liturgy and civic ministry;
- A good communicator with excellent organisational skills, who is resilient, persistent and able to lead change;
- A prayerful, warm and considered person who will encourage the congregation to pray both individually and corporately;
- An incumbent who would take an active and committed part in the Mission Community and the wider Deanery.
These benefices are at a key time in their ministry as they seek to discern their life and ministry individually, together and as part of Leigh Mission Community. A comfortable four-bedroom parsonage is available for the successful candidate.
