The annual ecumenical prayer initiative 'Thy Kingdom Come' (TKC), led by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York, makes its return next month. This worldwide prayer movement, which runs from Ascension Day until Pentecost, aims to unite Christians as they pray together for more people to know Jesus.
During this time every person, household and church are encouraged to pray in their own way.
It is the hope and prayer, that those who have not yet heard the Good News of Jesus Christ and His love for the world, will hear it for themselves and respond and follow Him.
Every Christian across the globe is invited to pray that God’s Spirit might work in the lives of five people. Whether you have joined in ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ before or not, you are invited to take part.
The need across the world for the transforming power and mercy of God is more stark than ever. How can we partner with God, in prayer and mission, to see more people encounter the love of Christ this year?
The national website provides information, inspiration, and lots of resources. It also allows parishes to share on a map any details of TKC events they are holding, which can be viewed by people from across the globe.
Listed below are just a handful of the resources available to help deepen faith during this global prayer event:
- Novena - a booklet written by Bishop Anthony Poggo, General Secretary of the Anglican Communion, based on the Book of Revelation
- Prayer Journal - an 11 day journal to help us explore prayer in new ways, including different prayer styles from various traditions and denominations
- Workplace prayer resources including a prayer diary to encourage workplace prayer groups
- To help spread the word, why not order or download these postcards to share with families in your church?
- Thy Kingdom Come have partnered with the Cheeky Pandas to create a variety of free resources that seek to get children excited about Jesus, the Bible and prayer. A wonderful new series , in collaboration with The Jesus Story Book Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones, is out now! It features some familiar faces, including Mary Berry, Bear Grylls, Gemma Hunt, Joanna-Adeyinka Burford and the Archbishop of Canterbury, taking us through some much-loved Bible stories. This is a fantastic resource for children, with 6 new episodes, as well as super-fun accompanying activity packs, worship packs, and widgit sheets.
- The Way UK has also created materials to inspire and engage young people in this global movement.
