Growing Good workshop

First published on: 16th March 2023

It was great to welcome people from churches across the Diocese to our Growing Good Workshop on Saturday 11th March at St Bride’s Church in Old Trafford.

Bishop David kicked off the event with a reflection on the importance of social action as a vital part of Christian mission, followed by a talk from Lily Axworthy, Chief Executive Officer of Greater Together Manchester, on the work that they do across the Diocese and on the importance of recognising the spaces in which we hold power and influence and the call to Christians to fight for social justice.

Kim Morgan-Jones, Head of Lay Development and Discipleship from the Diocese of Manchester reinforced the role of the laity in social action, and reminded people that the Growing, Nurturing and Serving team at the Diocese are able to help you with delivering and facilitating courses like Growing Good.

Polly Taylor, from Church Urban Fund, led the rest of the day, providing some background on the GRA:CE Report detailing the research upon which the toolkit is based.  She then led everyone through a ‘Hospitality’ taster session from the toolkit.

Greater Together Manchester are also able to provide support to churches and communities that are wanting to look at how they engage with their locality and what the role of their church is in serving in their local community.
