On Friday 20 October, we had the joy of welcoming headteachers, chairs of governors, clergy and staff from our church school communities from across the diocese for our Annual Schools Conference - Educating for life together at the Manchester Monastery.
Despite the blustery day, over 150 delegates arrived and enjoyed a day focussed on how we enable schools to support whole school wellbeing and flourish. Mark Russell, CEO of The Children's Society, spoke first about how we translate the findings of the Good Childhood Report into our context, followed by Nigel Genders, Church of England Chief Education Officer, who explored how we enable our schools to flourish and connecting it again to wellbeing.
After a tasty lunch we gathered together again for a Eucharist, presided by Bishop Mark and joined by the wonderful Gospel Choir from Trinity CE High School who were magnificent. The afternoon continued with two excellent short inputs - one from Rebecca Ripley (DEI Lead at Trinity CE High School) on how we weave racial justice throughout our school life, and one from Paul Campen (Deputy Head of St Thomas CE Primary, Heaton Chapel) who shared his school's journey towards a whole school approach to wellbeing.

"It has been such a rich and diverse day with challenge, encouragement and resource. Its always a huge privilege to bring our schools communities together and we are looking forward to next year already!"
