Archdeacons' Visitation Services

First published on: 13th June 2024

Archdeacons' Visitation services are taking place this month led by Archdeacon Karen Best and Archdeacon Rachel Mann. During the services, which are being held in churches around the diocese, churchwardens are formally admitted to their office and deputy wardens are presented, while sidespersons and PCC members make declarations of support.

We have been delighted to welcome so many people to the services, gathering together to worship, encourage and pray for one another. These occasions not only hold special legal significance but also offer an opportunity to give thanks for the talents and commitments of our church officers. We thank God for all they have done for their parishes and will do during the coming year.

All are encouraged to join in this prayer that is said for churchwardens during the services.

Eternal God,
We thank you for all those you have called to serve as Churchwardens
Enlighten with your grace those now admitted to office
And grant that they may always seek your glory
And promote the mission of the Church.
Grant them joy in their faith
Holiness of life and godly wisdom
That they may always know the renewing power of your Spirit
Through Jesus Christ our Lord
Amen
