Last weekend, over 90 Authorised Lay Ministers were authorised and commissioned at Manchester Cathedral. This included 40 new ALMs who have just finished their training and 50 ALMs who were being re-authorised for ministry in their parish. Between them they represented ten areas of ministry and many there we also marking ten years of service!
Bishop David led the very busy service that affirmed and celebrated those taking on the valued role of Authorised Lay Ministry. The service included readings from course participants, prayers from course staff, a sermon from Archdeacon Rachel Mann, and hymns aplenty. After the service, photos were taken in the sunshine with friends, family and supporting ministers.
Reflecting on the day, Jamie Mackenzie, Local Ministry Officer said, ‘The service was amazing and it was such a privilege to see everyone worshipping God together and celebrating the gift of lay ministry.’
The professional photographs are available here as a reminder of a very special service.
