On Sunday and Monday, hundreds of clergy and Readers from across the diocese took part in Continuing Ministerial Development days with guest speaker the Rt Revd Arun Arora, Bishop of Kirkstall.
Taking place at Manchester Cathedral and Holy Family, Failsworth respectively, each morning began with a welcome from the Rt Revd Prof David Walker, Bishop of Manchester, along with worship led by the Ven Dr Rachel Mann, Archdeacon of Salford and Bolton, and the Rt Revd Matthew Porter, Bishop of Bolton.
Bishop Arun then led the study day which focused on how to communicate the Gospel in the new age, especially with the dawn of social media, and how everyone can carry out their roles as vessels of God.
Using a variety of mediums including film, group discussion, reflection and testimony, he encouraged everyone to communicate the good news in an ever-changing world and to consider Gospel responses to modern issues which can be used in real terms. “Our task is simply to invite,” he said, “the rest is the work of the Holy Spirit.”
We would like to thank Bishop Arun for joining us in what was a thought-provoking and inspiring event for all.
