Our Eco Stepping Stones resource was launched on Saturday 16th September at St. John's House, Bury. We were delighted to be joined by passionate eco ambassadors from across Manchester, including the Rt Revd Dr Matthew Porter, the Bishop of Bolton, alongside the Rt Revd John Arnold, the Bishop of Salford.
The event marked the unvailing of our new Eco Stepping Stones resource, which is a three-part video series built to enable and equip parishes on their eco journey. The resource has been coproduced by an interdisciplinary team from St John’s House, along with ordained and lay leaders who are committed to responding to the climate crisis. The focus of the course is to champion the skills, abilities and ongoing work of people in the region; through the stories we are telling, the locations featured, the soundtrack used, and the underpinning methodology used throughout the coaching. It has truly been a team effort.
The launch event boasted an exciting agenda, including a preview of the first episode of the course which featured two case studies focused on the 'Growing' strand of our diocesan vision, but from an eco perspective. Attendees were also given the space to reflect and discuss on their experiences of using the resource, which prompted further discussion about how we can move forward collectively. The event also gave room for an interview with Bishop John Arnold, the Bishop of Salford. Bishop John also hold the position as the Environmental Lead for the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales in the Catholic Church. You can watch the full interview below:
The event also marked the commisioning of our first Eco-Champions in the diocese, who are individuals who have displayed a passionate commitment to ecology and care in our diocese, and beyond! Our first Eco Champions Gathering, which is open for all to join, will be hosted on Zoom on October 17th at 7:00pm. You can register via Eventbrite below:
