Thy Kingdom Come, the global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus, is entering its seventh year. Here are some ideas that may be helpful for churches wishing to organise prayer events between Ascension Day and Pentecost.

Order free resources for your churches and schools

  • The Novena booklet offers nine days of reflections on the book of 1 Peter, written by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.
  • The Prayer Journal will help you focus your personal prayers throughout Thy Kingdom Come, with short Bible verses, reflections, responses and prayers.
  • To help younger readers grow in faith, the Cheeky Pandas return this year in an exciting Jubilee-themed adventure.

Plan a special prayer event during the 11 days

  • This could be a 24/7 or 12/1 prayer event - however long works for you.
  • Prayer stations in the church - you might want to use the Novena artwork and reflections or other prayer station ideas.
  • Prayer walking or creating a labyrinth outside.
  • Connect with another church in your area for prayer activities.
  • Commit to praying for five people during the 11 days.

Reach out into the community

Consider using the postcard prayer project. Connect with your local community by posting a 'prayer postcard' into nearby homes and encouraging them to send in prayer requests and visit the local church.

Share resources for children and youth

Resources for children include the Bible-based Cheeky Pandas. Order free books for primary school aged children via the TKC website. There will also be a brand new five-part series of Cheeky Pandas animations based on the Fruits of the Spirit, with a special ‘Royal’ episode to mark Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee.

'The Way' has produced this year's flagship youth resource for Thy Kingdom Come. There is a video series on prayer and a discussion guide for youth groups and schools.
