Last Saturday at Bury Parish Church, 13 participants from around the diocese (plus friends and family) celebrated the completion of their Foundations for Ministry (FFM) course. The course ran over three terms, September to May, and included a mixture of interactive talks, group work, study days and personal reflection, all designed to help participants:
- Make connections between who they are, what they believe, and how they can apply their faith to the everyday stuff of life.
- Understand more about the varieties of Christian ministry, their spiritual gifts, and how they can identify their ministry SHAPE.
- Discover their call to mission, where God wants to use them, and how they can remain fruitful in their ministry.
Moving forward, a number of the participants have already been accepted to start Reader training this September, some are now beginning the discernment process for ordination and others have returned to their parishes with a renewed sense of energy and vision for their invaluable ongoing ministry as lay people.
The next Foundations for Ministry course will begin this September with applications opening in the Summer. For more information and details about the course please see click this link or contact Jamie Mackenzie, Local Ministry Officer, at jamiemackenzie@manchester.anglican.org
