At the end of May, over 70 friends, family and supporters gathered at the Church of the Resurrection and St Barnabas, Eastlands to celebrate with the 14 participants who recently completed the Foundations for Ministry course. Bishop David led the service which included commissioning prayers and the presentation of course completion certificates. All followed by refreshments, sandwiches and lots of cake!
As part of the service, participants also got chance to share some of their thoughts and highlights of the course:
“The FFM course has been life changing. It really enabled me to explore my calling and to meet other people from different church settings and backgrounds.”
“I now have a clearer understanding of my ministry shape and have developed very precious and special relationships with my group members.”
“The FFM course was so much more than I expected. It has impacted me so much, not just in leading me to my next steps, but also personally in my homelife and workplace.”
Foundations for Ministry is an exciting and vibrant course open to anyone active in church life who feels some sense of vocation or calling to Christian Ministry but needs some time and space to unpack what that might mean and look like. The course runs over three terms, September to June, and the 23 core sessions include a mixture of interactive talks, group work and personal reflection that are all designed to help you:
- Make connections between who you are, what you believe and how you can apply your faith to the everyday stuff of life.
- Understand more about Christian ministry, your spiritual gifts and how you can identify your ministry SHAPE.
- Discover your call to mission, where God wants to use you and how you can remain fruitful in your ministry.
