On Sunday, we were delighted to welcome the Revd Canon Rachel Watts to the diocese. During a service at Manchester Cathedral, Bishop David licensed Rachel as the new Director of Vocations.
In her sermon, Rachel invited those present to reflect on whether they feel a calling in their own lives saying, "God is doing a new thing here in Manchester. Could God be calling you to something new? Are you ready to say yes? Let us together be part of God's plans for this place and its people."
The service also saw Canon Phillip Blinkhorn admitted to the Order of the William Temple. Bishop David gave thanks for Phillip's contribution to the diocese, recognising his nearly five decades of service, including his long-standing role as Chair of the Diocesan Board of Finance.
