This week, Shakerley’s Mission Church celebrated its first birthday, marking the end of a brilliant first year during which the church has seen remarkable growth in its many initiatives.
The Mini Mission group has gone from strength to strength creating a nurturing environment for children aged 0-4 every Wednesday morning, and the church’s new Baby Mission initiative now offers hampers to new mums on the estate, giving them a much-needed head start - something which Revd Cath Eccles, Pioneer Curate, is particularly proud of. The coffee morning has also become a cherished community hub, offering a place for people to gather, chat, and enjoy a brew together.
Cath has found the church’s Monday morning prayer walks especially rewarding. “These walks allow us to connect with local residents, meet new people, and pray for our community", she says. "It is also inspiring to see our Sunday afternoon service providing an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere, complete with prayer, song, inclusive teaching and Holy Communion. After worship, we provide free meals for all, bringing the community together to share food and socialise.”
It’s truly inspiring to see God’s work unfolding at Shakerley Mission Church, as it continues to unite local people in worship while providing a supportive and welcoming space for community connection.
