This year marks the 30th anniversary of Racial Justice Sunday. Established by the Methodist Church in 1995 after the tragic murder of teenager Stephen Lawrence, Racial Justice Sunday aims to address racial inequality and support justice for marginalised communities. The Churches’ Commission for Racial Justice later expanded the observance to all churches across Britain and Ireland.
The theme for this year’s Racial Justice Sunday is "Coat of Many Colours", symbolising the growing diversity within churches. While the diversity in our churches is a blessing and brings spiritual renewal, racial inequality still exists.
This year’s resources, compiled by the Racial Justice Sunday Writers’ Group and Churches Together in Britain and Ireland, include reflections, worship materials, and testimonies on the significance of racial justice today.
