Staff, pupils, families and members of St Stephen’s, Astley had a wonderful day celebrating their Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) achievement.
Families were invited into school to join their children in creating large tissue paper light bulbs to display in their windows at home, and two particularly creative teachers produced six canvases, each depicting one of the School Values. Pupils, families and staff all got involved and helped to paint them, and they will be displayed around the hall in the future. It was an amazing experience which was enjoyed by over 100 families!
Following this, the children had a celebration involving dancing to light-themed worship music, and to end the day, staff and pupils came together for a time of Collective Worship led by their headteacher.
Revd Jonathan blessed seven new class lanterns, each displaying the words “Jesus Christ is the light of the world” (John 8:12). The lights were turned off and the lanterns lit, and the Ethos Team presented a representative from each class with their lantern.
The grand finale - with the lights still off everyone was given a glow stick and sang the two worship songs, and on the very last word “Shine” staff around the hall let off confetti cannons. The pupils loved it!
What a blessing this day of celebration was for everyone at St Stephen's!
