On Saturday, people gathered at St Bride's, Old Trafford to explore a variety of lay and ordained ministries at the annual Vocations Day. There was a new format this year which included three keynote talks given by The Revd Canon Rachel Watts, Director of Vocations, Kim Morgan-Jones, Head of Lay Development, and The Revd Canon Jean Hurlston, Healthcare Chaplain, who all spoke on the subject of calling and vocation.
Around 30 individuals, each representing various areas of ministry, were also on hand for conversations. These included roles such as Reader Ministry, Authorised Lay Ministry, Self-Supporting and Stipendiary Ministry, Focal Leadership, Church Officers, and more. Additionally, representatives from Eco-Champions, Greater Together Manchester, and Religious Orders were available to offer guidance and support. Running alongside this, two workshops gave further opportunities to explore calling, and a dedicated prayer space was well-utilised throughout the day.
A special thank you to the speakers, volunteers, and to St Bride's for hosting the event and providing lots of Fairtrade coffee and tea, cake and fresh fruit to everyone in attendance.
Everyone has a vocation and we believe that God has a plan for each of us. If you would like a conversation about vocation and calling, or for further information about different areas of lay or ordained ministry, please get in touch with Revd Rachel Watts, Director of Vocations at RachelWatts@manchester.anglican.org or Kim Morgan-Jones, Head of Lay Development at KimMorgan-Jones@manchester.anglican.org.
