On Sunday, churches across the diocese marked Pentecost with traditional Whit celebrations. In Shaw, Crompton and Thornham benefice, churches took to the streets to take part in their first Whit Walk since Covid – fantastic to see people gathered for this Walk of Witness for the first time in five years.
In the benefice of Heyside and Royton, churches embraced the sunshine by heading outside for worship. The congregation from St Mark’s headed to Bullcote Park for Pentecostal Eucharist, whilst church members from St Anne’s headed to Shaw Road End Park for an act of Witness and Worship.
In Oldham, St Thomas’, Moorside, was joined by the Delph Brass Band and uniformed groups to process through the streets of the parish, which were lined by members of the community who came out to show their support.
Special thanks to all those volunteers who made these celebrations possible.
