Youth Gather for 'Into the Light' Event in Bolton

Across our mission communities, churches are always finding inspiring and creative ways to engage with young people. One such example comes from Bolton West Mission Community, which recently hosted a successful youth event titled Into the Light.

37 young people from youth groups within the mission community gathered for a Catalyst event, hosted by Ignite Youth Church at St John’s Church Wingates. Into the Light invited the youth to come together to worship and reflect on the words of Isaiah 9:2: “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light.”

Throughout the evening, the young people shared stories of times when they felt lost in the darkness, and how they found hope and light in Jesus. The event also featured light-themed activities, including an obstacle course guided by light and lighting up the room with glowing balloons. The youth also had the opportunity to creatively express what Jesus as the Light of the World means to them through dramatic performances.

Evelyn Eden, a youth leader and member of St. John’s Wingates celebrated the event’s success, saying:

"Catalyst gives our young people the space to connect with others from their schools who also go to church, encouraging them in their faith journey. We had a fantastic evening at St. John’s Wingates, welcoming young people from youth groups across the Bolton West Mission Community. It was truly special to see them come together for Into the Light as we journey towards Christmas. We worshipped together, enjoyed fun Bible-centred activities, and, of course, pizza! God is at work in our young people, and we ask for continued prayer as we seek His heart for them."

As part of the Bolton West Mission Community, these youth events take place every term, offering young people opportunities to connect, grow, and experience fellowship with each other.
