It is with great sadness that we share the news that Canon Peter Reiss died peacefully at home earlier today, following a long illness.
The first focal leaders in Manchester Diocese were commissioned last Sunday afternoon at St Mary’s Rawtenstall. They will carry out their roles in the mission communities of Radcliffe and Whitefield and Rossendale in the Bury and Rossendale Deanery.
One of the diocese’s longest-serving Readers, Frank has been leading services for no less than 54 years and estimates the number he has taken to be around 500.
In Rochdale, schoolchildren are leading the way in encouraging local Christians to make changes that help the environment.
A service to authorise and give thanks for lay ministers in our parishes.
Situated in Hillock, Whitefield, St Andrew’s is one of many churches that are actively involved in their community. This is especially important during the summer holidays – even more so when the weather isn’t good!
Following a five-year hiatus due to Covid, this year saw the return of the Companions for the Journey course.
On Saturday 22nd July, church members from South Manchester’s Mission Community 2 joined together in a four-hour prayer walk between their ten parishes.
Julie Macauley from Radcliffe was Admitted and Commissioned as a Church Army Evangelist on Tuesday 18th July, in Sheffield Cathedral.
Joshua Gaskell, a trombone enthusiast from Glyndyfrdwy, Denbighshire, in North Wales, has enjoyed a colourful and diverse employment history before entering ministry!
