Assistant Curate (Pioneer Priest): Shaw, Crompton and Thornham Mission Community

Assistant Curate (to be known as Pioneer Priest) within the Mission Community of Shaw, Crompton and Thornham

The PCCs are looking for a priest convinced of the missional power of the Eucharist and committed to bringing the transforming power of the liturgy to all ages. They will seek ways of deepening discipleship and developing stepping stones for people on their faith journey. They will be enthusiastic about being in an Inclusive Church setting and comfortable with a liberal catholic tradition.

They will:

  • be a person grounded in the Eucharist with a desire to lead a church which is growing in numbers, faith, and depth of discipleship
  • be particularly skilled in developing the discipleship of young people, especially those moving from primary to secondary school
  • be committed to a strong Safeguarding culture
  • be enthusiastic about work with children, young people and families, both in schools and in church
  • be able to see and encourage the gifts of others of all ages and stages in life
  • be committed to pastoral care and enabling the pastoral skills of others
  • be secure in an Inclusive Church setting
  • be passionate about building on and developing eco-church work

We are expecting the Mission Community to become a Team – all the PCCs have voted to pursue this option and the process currently sits with the Church Commissioners, so we are seeking a priest who will be based at and licenced to St Saviour’s East Crompton, but capable of and willing to work collaboratively across the whole Mission Community. We are blessed by a number of schools for children and young people, and there is significant work already taking place with children, young people and families, as well as the potential for much more we could do with a Pioneer Priest joining us.
