Nomination and Election Process - Diocesan Boards, Councils and Committees

Following the elections to Diocesan Synod earlier in the year, we must now begin the process of nominations/elections to all Diocesan Boards, Councils and Committees, in readiness for the triennial period beginning on 1st January 2025 to 31st December 2027.

Nominations are invited to the following Boards and Committees of which only current members of Diocesan Synod (Triennium period 2024-2027) are eligible to stand for nomination/election:

  • Bishop’s Council and Standing Committee of the Diocesan Synod
  • Diocesan Mission and Pastoral Committee

Nominations are invited to the following Boards and Committees of which all members of Deanery Synods (who are not also required to be a member of Diocesan Synod) are eligible to stand for nomination/election:

  • Diocesan Property Committee
  • Vacancy in See Committee

In all cases, nominated candidates will require a proposer and seconder who MUST be a member of the Diocesan Synod and in certain instances, the proposer and seconder are also required to be from the same Archdeaconry as the nominated candidate. If there are more nominations received than places on the respective Boards, Councils and Committees, then an election will need to be held in accordance with the published timetable.

Please carefully read all content in the Nomination pack before submitting a nomination. The pack includes:

Nomination forms must be received by 12noon on Friday, 6th December 2024 in either hard copy format or a scanned copy by email and containing the respective signatures of the nominated candidate and both their proposer and seconder. Email copies can be forwarded to: elections@manchester.anglican.org

If you require a hard copy, please contact 0161 828 1420 to request a copy of the Nomination Pack to be posted to you.

Please note that given where we are in the year, we are on a very tight timetable which could not be avoided and therefore we would kindly request that nomination forms are returned as soon as is practicable.

Should you have any questions or queries relating to the above or attached, then please contact via the following email address: elections@manchester.anglican.org
