Yesterday, we observed Ash Wednesday across the diocese, making space for reflection, prayer, and repentance.
On the evening of Shrove Tuesday, Manchester Cathedral hosted a moving service of reflection for those involved in safeguarding. Led by Bishop Mark Davies, the service honoured and thanked those dedicated to making our churches safer places.
Visitation services are held each summer following the election of churchwardens at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM). The dates for this year's visitation services have been released.
Following last week’s meeting of General Synod, where the future of safeguarding arrangements in the Church of England was debated, Bishop David has written a letter to clergy and lay leaders to share his thoughts on the decision-making process.
During a debate in the House of Lords yesterday, Bishop David spoke on the importance of reflecting on the past to ensure that atrocities such as the Holocaust never happen again.
On Saturday, the annual Vocations Day provided an opportunity for people to explore a variety of lay and ordained ministries.
Bury and Rossendale Deanery recently welcomed over 70 attendees to the Growing Younger Conference, an inspiring morning themed around Joshua 1 Verse 9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
A special service to welcome our diocese's new Director of Ministry and Mission, the Revd Phil Cansdale, was held at Manchester Cathedral on Sunday evening.
‘Love Your School’ is a new initiative for building momentum in the ministry that has been taking place in Bolton Deanery between parishes and schools for many years.
